Dirk is a career entrepreneur with a long-standing passion for building—businesses, communities, and homes. Originally from Columbia, South Carolina, he’s lived across the U.S. and even spent time overseas during childhood. With degrees from the University of South Carolina (BA) and Appalachian State University (MSci), Dirk blends academic foundation with decades of real-world experience.
Before founding Itani and Ditani, Dirk created and successfully exited multiple companies—from restaurants and river outfitters to health science brands with global reach. He launched and sold three health science companies and ran a popular restaurant and brewery in Tega Cay, SC. Several of his product lines reached global distribution, with one formula alone generating over $200 million in sales across the U.S. and Europe.

Dirk now leads Itani Development, focusing on residential and multifamily asset acquisition, repositioning, and strategic disposition. Holding periods range from a few months to several years. Through Ditani Construction, he manages everything from high-end renovations to the ground-up development of townhomes and single-family communities.
He’s a licensed North Carolina Residential General Contractor and serves on the City of Tega Cay Board of Zoning Appeals. Dirk is hands-on in both planning and execution—often swinging a hammer on his own job sites. His expertise includes:
